It is no secret that we love Cabernet Franc.  Bruwer Raats has dedicated his life to mastering this noble variety with the first Raats Family Cabernet Franc released in 2001.  As one of the pillars of our brand, Family Cabernet Franc reigns supreme as one of our most beloved expressions of this noble variety.  Critically acclaimed, this wine is consistently ranked as one of the world’s best.

For 21 years, MR de Compostella has led the way as the most eminent ultra-premium wine from South Africa, findig a place in some of the most prestigeous cellars around the world.  MR has been a part of so many of life’s biggest celebrations and most memorable moments.  A symbol of passion, determination, hope, friendship and the desire to create excellence through wine.

To honour this legacy, and the success of 21 Vintages of MR de Compostella, we have bottled just over two hundred magnums of the 99-point 2021 vintage for future release.

We have however decided to release 12 of these prized magnum bottles, signed by Bruwer and Mzo and packaged in a collectors case as a members exclusive just in time for Christmas.

Raats Family Wines was one of the driving forces behind the establishment of Polkadraai Hills as an official ward within Stellenbosch in 2007.  With its unique decomposed dolomite granite soils, proximity to the ocean and south facing slopes it allows for great depth of quality terroir, making itself known as producing some of the most exciting wines in the country.

Founded in 2000 by visionary winemaker Bruwer Raats, in partnership with his cousin Gavin Bruwer Slabbert, Raats Family Wines specialize in Chenin Blanc and Cabernet Franc and has been crafting soil-driven wines of exceptional quality ever since.
